The cars are all so beautiful. The interiors, the onboard computers, the seamlessness of the UI — these are usually the only things I notice, but now I look through the websites and even the ugly ones are beautiful, in fact they are the most beautiful, they are absurdly shaped, designed either for some over-practical application (e.g. excessive luggage capacity) or for anachronistic market differentiation (e.g. oversized rear chassis). The faded graphic prints on the backseats are like dads wearing big jeans. The gear sticks have faux-mahogany casings. The speed gauges are plastic simulacra of aeronautical barometers. I wonder if it’s possible to have a mid-life crisis in your early (mid) thirties, whether these trawls through the autoscount24 dot com listings are a bottom signal or transference of past injury — likely both.
